We're looking for a seasoned, exclusives-oriented reporter to cover equity and debt transactions involving large commercial properties in Australia for our daily online bulletins.

This role offers the chance to focus on breaking news rather than rewriting press releases. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to quickly build a strong contact base and establish themselves as a go-to name in the sector.

Some of our past Australian exclusives – including Anthropic’s hunt for a 1.5GW data centre, Walker Corp’s $2bn development deal with Western Sydney University and our interviews with senior executives at the likes of Nuveen, PGIM, BlackRock and GIC – show the range of the internationally significant stories we break. 

Our reporting teams are committed to telling readers what they are not supposed to know about the latest deals and dealmakers in the commercial real estate market. Our sister CRE publications in North America and Europe are widely recognised among real estate professionals for their sophisticated, cutting-edge reporting.

• Report exclusives about listings, deals under contract, settlements, financing arrangements, development projects and other relevant news
• Write sophisticated analysis pieces about market trends ahead of the competition and conduct interviews with senior industry leaders for insightful Q+As
• Leverage relationships among agents, developers and other market pros to establish yourself as a top producer of exclusive news in the institutional-investor space
• Work collaboratively with other senior journalists on the team to beat the competition in quantity and quality of exclusive CRE news and ensure smooth publication of daily content
• Work collaboratively with Green Street News journalists across geographies on articles about international deals, capital flows and market trends

• 5+ years of reporting experience with a daily newspaper, online information service or weekly publication
• A “nose for news” and a track record of breaking major stories on a regular basis
• Business or property reporting news experience is strongly preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of finance, banking and private lending industries is a plus

In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements). Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
