Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. As a Senior DBA, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our organization's databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our data and supporting our business operations. Job Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain databases to ensure high performance, reliability, and security
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks for optimal system efficiency
  • Create and maintain indexes to enhance query performance and overall database efficiency
  • Collaborate with DevOps to develop backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into efficient database solutions
  • Conduct regular database maintenance, including data purging, indexing, and tuning
  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing effective solutions
  • Maintain thorough documentation of database schemas, procedures, and guidelines
  • Stay current with database technologies and trends, recommending and implementing improvements as needed
  • Collaborate with a California-based development team and offshore team members across various time zones
  • Available for overlap with US West Coast time for handovers and issue triage

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Amazon RDS for MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Proven track record in managing, optimizing, and securing cloud-based, enterprise-level databases on AWS
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS and familiarity with AWS tools and services related to database management and security
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python) for automation and data manipulation within AWS environments
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, data modeling principles, and best practices for RDS database deployments on MySQL and PostgreSQL

Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable experience
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on managing enterprise-level databases
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as MySQL, SQL Server, or Postgres
  • Proficiency in database design, implementation, and optimization
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization techniques
  • Solid understanding of data security and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies and tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Compensation, Benefits and Work Authorization

In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements). Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.

 

Green Street will not sponsor or transfer employment work visas for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Bulgaria without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

 

The current offer:

  • Hybrid Office Model: 3 days per week (Tuesday – Thursday) in office in Sofia, 2 days remote
  • Working Hours: 3 days per week 11:00am – 8:00pm, 2 days 9:00am – 6:00pm EEST
